My landlord and I have been clashing over my caring for stray animals. We had a disagreement about feeding dogs, and now he wants us to leave. He claims he needs the house for personal use, but I believe it’s retaliation for the disagreement. I’m really upset and hurt by this, especially since I have to pay for the painting even though I haven’t lived here for a year. Is there any way I can challenge this? It feels unfair to pay when he’s using legal points to justify his actions and we’ve faced similar issues with previous landlords. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of.

My neighbour constantly parks their car right outside my house. Even after we politely requested them to stop, they claim to have permission from the ground floor residents. My father, who couldn’t read or write, rented out our land in 2006 to a businessman running a brick kiln for Rs. 8,000 per bhigha. The agreement was supposed to end in 2012, but because my father was old and couldn’t understand the papers well, they tricked him into extending it to 2020 at the same rate. Now, the rent should be around Rs. 14,000, but they haven’t increased it. How can I get my land back or update the rent agreement?

My landlord doesn’t give me a rent receipt. He only accepts cash. Now I have no proof of my rent payments. Could this cause problems? I signed a lease agreement on e-stamp for 10 months with a 5-month lock-in period. It says: “If the tenant leaves the premises within the 5-month lock-in period, they must pay 5 months’ rent to the landlord.” What does this mean? Is it an additional 5 months’ rent, or just 5 months’ rent in total? What happens if I have to leave the flat before the 5-month lock-in period is over?

For the past 15 years, a mentally unstable tobacco and gutka seller has been operating a shop right outside our house. He’s often aggressive, drinks heavily, and hangs out with a rowdy crowd. Despite signing yearly leases for the last 7 years (sometimes by him, sometimes by his wife), he hasn’t stopped causing trouble. We’re facing a tough situation. The tenants haven’t vacated the property despite the Supreme Court order, and they haven’t paid the rent arrears as per the court’s deadline of March 31st, 2016. They’ve also moved their belongings to the second floor, breaking the locks and causing trouble.
