My grandfather lived in a humble mud house in a village near Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. He had five daughters and one son, my father. After he passed away, my grandmother made an agreement in 2014 to transfer the house to me. She gave each of my aunts 10,000 rupees and the agreement, signed by all my aunts, is in my possession. I’m planning to buy an apartment in a registered co-operative society. While reviewing the documents, I noticed a few things:1. There’s no sale deed, just a registered agreement for sale.2. My family is Hindu and we have 10 acres of land. My father has two sons – my brother and me. We still live together as a joint family. Six years ago, my elder brother fraudulently registered 5 acres of land in his name, using the same survey number, without our knowledge. He also took a crop loan using this land.
