My father filed a false case against my brother and me last year in November. The FIR accused us of driving our mother to suicide, even though she passed away at my elder sister’s place, and I wasn’t even home for the past two days. My father was manipulated by some relatives into filing the case, but now he’s realized his mistake. He withdrew the case and admitted his guilt in Barasat Court. After two hearings, the case was dismissed there. However, my lawyer says a copy of the case was submitted to Barrackpore Court, and the proceedings are ongoing there for almost a year. My landlord allowed me to sublet their property. I rented it out, with the tenant paying Rs.15,000 to the owner and Rs.5,000 to me for furniture and maintenance. From the third month, the tenant started paying the entire rent to me. He became a nuisance to the neighbours and was asked to vacate, but refused. I filed a case with the Rent Controller a year ago. He eventually vacated but took the keys, demanding his advance even though he hadn’t paid rent for four months. The total rent arrears are now over Rs.2 lakhs.
