My father recently passed away, leaving behind a family property for his four daughters. His brother, however, took possession of the land. My dream home in Sathyanagar, Boisar, Maharashtra, was promised in 2009, but the builder delayed possession. I placed my faith in the law and approached a lawyer, hoping the consumer court would understand my frustration. I sought a compensation of â‚¹10 lakhs, plus legal fees and immediate possession. However, the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Mumbai advised me to file my claim with the District Forum, citing the value of my claim being below â‚¹20 lakhs. While the row house now costs around â‚¹13 lakhs, my emotional investment in this dream home is priceless. I’m disappointed to have to file for just â‚¹3 lakhs, when I deserve the full â‚¹10 lakhs.
