My husband and I have been married for two years, and I’ve been living with my parents in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, things haven’t been good. I’ve been facing a lot of emotional and physical abuse, and I’ve had to leave him due to the violence. He recently sent me a divorce notice with false accusations. I used to work before marriage but have been unable to since. We also have a five-month-old baby. Could I use a lawyer in Bangalore to respond to the divorce notice, or should I use a lawyer in Hyderabad? Also, considering my husband earns more than 30 lakhs per year, can I request alimony?

My marriage happened in 2014. I suspect my wife is having an affair. When I confronted her, she threatened to file a false case against me under Section 498A. My divorce case was filed back in 2011. The evidence was presented in 2012, and the arguments were finished that same year. The judge set a date for the decision, but then got transferred right before it. My lawyer doesn’t always seem to have my best interests at heart, and he charges me for every court appearance.
