I bought a property in India through a General Power of Attorney (GPA) from my mother in 2012 while I was living overseas. The GPA hasn’t been cancelled in the Sub-Registrar’s Office (SRO) yet. I’m 36 years old, an MBBS doctor who finished medical school 9 years ago but haven’t pursued any specialization yet. I’m going through a divorce from my wife, a successful dermatologist. She’s demanding â‚¹4 lakhs monthly as alimony, which I can’t manage. The case has been in court for 3 years now, and she’s also filed a dowry harassment case against me. My lawyer suggested filing a case of abuse against her, but I’m feeling stuck. I really want this to end soon. Is there any way to get a divorce despite her asking for such a high alimony?
