My family in Delhi consists of my mother, father, elder sister, and myself. We live in a house jointly owned by my parents. My father takes out loans, which my mother and now my unmarried sister (33) are repaying. My father’s behaviour is causing us immense distress, and he threatens suicide if we don’t give him money or sell the property. We’re worried he might destroy any funds we receive from a sale. My brother was allotted land by the government in 1976, but I’ve been living on it with my children and grandchildren for the past 40 years. He never lived there. In 2013, he filed a case against me and in 2014, the court put a stop to any construction on the land. This dairy plot is now causing me problems because I can’t improve it. Drainage water flows onto my property and the waterlogging is affecting my cattle. Is there any way the court can lift the construction ban so I can finally secure my property?

I changed my name officially in the Gazette of India back in 2014, and updated my Aadhaar and PAN cards in 2016. Now, I want to go back to my original name. I hear I need to publish a new Gazette notification to revert the name change and that process could take around three months. I haven’t updated my name with my office yet, only my Aadhaar and PAN. What if my office finds out about the name change and my old name is still on my tax records? Could I face any legal issues?
