My mother, a cancer survivor, is 72 years old and I’m a 35-year-old unmarried woman. We live together and depend on her pension and some investments to manage our daily expenses. My father has passed away and my brother, who’s in the merchant navy, is often out of town. His family lives on the third floor while we’re on the ground floor of my mother’s property. We’ve been tenants in this chawl for over 60 years. There’s a dispute with our landlord and the neighboring building over encroached land, ongoing since 2011.
