We are a Hindu family. Our son got married in 2011. He was supposed to go abroad for work in 2012. Both their visas were ready. Suddenly, the girl’s parents forcefully took her away, claiming she wouldn’t go so far. Our son went alone in June 2012. They’ve cut off all communication for the past four years. We haven’t filed any police complaints. They offered a mutual consent divorce in 2015 for a large sum, which we refused. They filed a divorce petition in August 2015, but it hasn’t been legally served to my son abroad. We only get repeated dates. Nobody appears in court. Our son won’t return to India. What can we do to resolve this situation? We are confident we’ll win any legal case.

My Mediclaim policy has been active since 2007. This year, I sent a cheque well before the renewal deadline, and they issued a new policy. However, after the grace period ended, they informed me the cheque bounced due to a signature mismatch, even though my bank account had sufficient funds. I suspect this was done intentionally to reject my claim as a senior citizen. My appeals have gone unanswered. What legal recourse do I have? My son lives with me in our house. I was married young, at 17, and later remarried after being honest with my second wife about my previous marriage. My wedding in February 2015 was followed by constant disapproval from my in-laws, who felt my father’s arrangements were inadequate. Their criticism and emotional abuse became unbearable. After a disagreement, they demanded I leave. My husband, unfortunately, resorted to insulting my brother and father. Despite my efforts to save the marriage, their insensitive behavior continued. My in-laws viewed me solely as a servant, expected to do chores and please their son. Their education didn’t translate into respect or compassion. One day, their verbal abuse turned physical, forcing me to leave in December 2015. I’ve been living with my parents since. As a Junior Engineer (JE) in the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), I joined with the Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE). I’ve since become an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE), qualified the GATE exam, and completed an M.Tech degree while serving. However, I’m facing a frustrating situation: despite my qualifications and experience, I’m not allowed to apply for jobs outside the BRO, citing a shortage of JEs. My requests for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to apply for Group A jobs in other government departments since 2002 have also been denied. In fact, a complete ban on outside job applications was imposed.I filed a case in the Delhi High Court in 2015 seeking an NOC for a Scientist post at DRDO, and yesterday I received a favorable order. Given this situation, is it possible for me to seek compensation from BRO for the losses I’ve incurred due to their policies? My office headquarters are in New Delhi. Please advise on my options.
