Now, her lawyer has sent me a legal notice demanding maintenance and divorce. She’s also filed a divorce petition. I’m a B.Com graduate with a monthly salary of Rs. 40,000, but I have an Rs. 17,000 housing loan EMI and an Rs. 8,000 personal loan EMI. Can I refuse to pay maintenance since she’s also a B.Com graduate with work experience? Is she even eligible for maintenance? If so, how much could I be asked to pay?

I’m a co-founder in a young company, with a 25% share and an investment of around 12 lakhs. I’ve been working without salary for the past 9 months. My mother, like many others, trusted a local couple, the Goyals, to manage a small savings group. She started with around 80-100 members, each contributing â‚¹400 per month. They used to give handwritten cards for monthly entries, but no formal agreements were made. My partner and I got married while I was under the influence of alcohol, but I didn’t know it was happening at the time. I went home and only realized what had occurred a few days later when he called and mentioned the marriage. Respected Sir,I understand that government employees can be suspended if they remain in custody for over 48 hours. I was previously suspended for this reason but the suspension was lifted within a month, even though the criminal case was ongoing. However, after 3.5 years, the authorities are proposing to set up an inquiry committee and possibly suspend me again. Could you please clarify the rules regarding this situation?
