I turned 58 on July 31, 2009, and have served for over 20 years, meeting the conditions for the two-year weightage benefit under Section 10(2) of EPS’ 1995. However, I’m being denied this benefit because the law changed on July 24, 2009, altering the wording in Section 10(2). I purchased land from a broker, trusting him completely. I paid 22 lakhs for it, without checking the details properly. Now, I want to sell it, but I’ve learned I was tricked. The land was actually worth only 7 lakhs at the time. Neither government nor private valuations match what I paid. The Patwari is also being difficult, demanding money and repeatedly measuring the land. It feels like a big scam.

I’ve been with my company in Mumbai for over two years. A couple of months ago, I got dengue fever and was unable to work. Unfortunately, I was released from my project and put on the bench. Since my parents are in Bangalore and I’m still recovering, I moved there. I’m not working and losing pay. I submitted my resignation on January 10th, with a last day of January 13th. I emailed my manager and HR the same day. Today, I got a reply from HR saying I owe 87 days of salary because my notice period is 90 days. I can’t afford to pay this, and they’re going to deduct it from my settlement. My last day is tomorrow. This seems unfair, especially since I was on the bench. What can I do?
