I’m an MCA, Assistant Professor in Tumkur, Karnataka, working at SIT College. Back in August 2014, my ex-wife (a government medical officer) and I jointly purchased a home for 30 lakhs, registering both of us as owners. We also took out a joint loan with equal EMIs (around 16,000 each, totaling 32,000 per month).We got divorced in August 2016. The court ruled in my favor, preventing her from seeking maintenance due to her government job and assets.Since then, her parents (who were officially recognized as tenants paying 8,000 rupees per month) have stopped paying rent. They’re using their influence to try and force me out of my own home, and shockingly, they stopped paying their share of the loan EMI after the divorce judgment.Attorneys have quoted a hefty court fee of 14.5%, which is about 2.5 lakhs, a sum I can’t afford. Could you please suggest a practical solution that I can manage?

Namaste! I recently booked a new flat in Mumbai, still under construction, and paid 20% of the total price of ₹45 lakhs. The agreement states I need to pay another 15% once the foundation is complete. My pre-approved loan is for ₹25 lakhs. My father passed away in February 2003. He strongly opposed giving any portion of his property to his daughter. So, in 1998, he let me build a house on the property at my own expense, allowing me to collect rent. After his passing, my mother claims there was no will and that she and my sister took all his savings â€“ around 15 lakhs and some shares, the details of which are unclear. Now, they want a share in the property as well. This seems suspicious, especially since my mother never agreed to this arrangement before. I promptly got the property registered in my name, including electricity and water connections, in 2003. For the past 10 years, no one has contested this. I now wish to sell the property, but they refuse to sign, even if I offer them their rightful share. What legal steps should I take?
