I’m a stay-at-home mom with a 7-month-old daughter. My husband works constantly and hardly spends time with us. He never even takes us to the doctor when we’re sick, which often leads to unnecessary medical expenses. He also doesn’t communicate directly, leaving everything to his mother who often exaggerates problems and complains to me. This constant negativity isolates us and hurts deeply. We got married six years ago against our families’ wishes. Since then, I’ve been dealing with his drinking problem and occasional violence. Six months ago, he got drunk and tried to hit me again, so I called the police. They warned him, but I didn’t file a report. Then, a month later, he got drunk and crashed the car I bought. Two months ago, we had a fight and he left without telling me where he was going. He came back after two months, but the next day, he found some pictures of me on my laptop and got angry, demanding a divorce. He hasn’t contributed much financially. I bought the house, he only paid for the brokerage and furniture. Now, he claims he wants a share of the house. He doesn’t give me any money, and most of his income goes towards drinking.
