My wife filed a 498A case against me and my family back in 2006. We eventually reached a settlement in the Allahabad High Court in 2008 to resolve the situation. The agreement mentioned that we would live separately without pursuing a divorce, keeping our child’s best interests in mind. It also stated that we would remain separated until we mutually decided otherwise, without specifying a time limit. I’ve been making monthly payments as agreed. My sister got married in December 2013 and had a baby girl. She’s been struggling financially and wants to live independently. She left our home in May 2015 and went back to her parents’ place. A few months later, she filed a complaint with the police in June 2015. The police contacted us and investigated. Later, she filed a case against us in court in March 2016. The police investigated again, but no charges have been filed yet. She also filed a maintenance case, and the court ordered us to pay her â‚¹1,500 per month. My marriage in 2014 turned into a nightmare. My in-laws constantly nag and criticize me, making life unbearable. My mother-in-law has a strong hold on my husband, who blindly agrees to her demands. She constantly stirs up trouble and lies to him for trivial matters. My husband, currently in Australia, isn’t a permanent resident and constantly asks me for money for his settlement, a huge sum like 8 lakh rupees. My in-laws, including his mother, two sisters, their husbands, and children all live together, making the situation worse. They harass me daily, even throwing me out of the house in December 2014. I’ve been living with my parents for the past five months. My husband came to my parents’ home and promised to take me back, but he left for Australia without my knowledge, and now he and my in-laws have filed a case against my family and me, accusing us of demanding property. He doesn’t contact me, send me money, and my father, a heart patient, is under immense stress because of the constant legal summons. We can’t afford legal representation, and I’m terrified and emotionally drained. I need help, I feel utterly helpless.
