My wedding took place on the 26th of June, 2012, following Hindu customs. We have a 4-year-old son named Aavik. Sadly, I’ve been separated from my husband and in-laws since the 15th of April 2016. I filed a case against them in the Saket court, but despite my need for maintenance, the court keeps postponing hearings. My husband even tried to kill me, and I filed a police report, but he was granted bail. I also reported the incident to the Kirti Nagar Women’s Cell, but again, he was released. Despite having all the evidence, I haven’t received justice. My husband and in-laws still hold my dowry and other belongings. They pressured me to sign property documents, fearing I’d claim the house if anything happened. I did it for the sake of our marriage and son. They used to take my entire salary and then made me quit when they had enough. Now, my husband has filed for divorce, refusing to live with me or to let me see our son. I don’t want to divorce him or be separated from my son because I’m fighting a domestic violence case against them. What can I do in this situation? Is financial support possible for an educated woman? What are my best options?
