I was accepted to a prominent Indian Institute, and they initially promised no fees for SC/ST students, including hostel charges. However, OBC students were told they needed to pay for their hostel. My brother and I settled our ancestral property dispute in 2014. We agreed on a share division and he was to buy my portion for â‚¹2.8 crore. Our family left a small patch of land outside our compound wall, which wasn’t perfectly straight, and planted a few plants there. Our neighbour started renovating their house and, before we knew it, they had incorporated that land into their property, put up a gate, and even dug a water tank. We reported this to the police, but it didn’t help. We filed a civil case in the local court seeking an injunction. They claim they don’t have original property documents and only submitted photocopies. My neighbour filed the lawsuit three months ago but hasn’t registered the property in anyone’s name. Her husband is physically disabled, and he’s pretending to be innocent, claiming he’s been using our land for 20 years. But we bought our land and built our house nine years ago. We filed the lawsuit in the names of her husband and their daughter. Given that they don’t have original documents and we submitted ours a year ago, why is the court taking so long to decide?

My mom recently filed a case to divide our ancestral property. She accidentally included some land that was already sold, but didn’t name the new owners in the case. My grandfather sold his share of the land before 1980 and my uncle signed the papers as his father’s share. My uncle and grandfather had an informal division of the property before 1980. My father passed away in 1985 leaving a plot of land in Delhi. The property was transferred to me, my mother, and my brother. After my marriage in 2004, my mother and brother confined me at home and pressured me to sign some documents they claimed were fixed deposits. I’ve been selected for the ADI post in the MSME department of the West Bengal government by the WB PSC. However, just before my appointment, three unsuccessful candidates filed a case at the SAT challenging the selection panel. The court issued an order stopping the appointment of one candidate without even hearing the successful candidates. While there was no bar to joining the other 25 candidates, the department’s delay has put our appointments on hold. Now, the unsuccessful candidates have submitted a new application (MA) against some of the successful candidates without amending their original petition, and the judge has issued an interim order affecting the entire panel. This leaves us, the 18 newly added parties, in a difficult situation. We have already lost out on an increment due to the delay. Our lawyer is working with us, but we are considering getting a new lawyer. Is there a process for replacing our current lawyer?
