My husband received his final salary cheque on June 30th, 2015. I deposited it into our Axis Bank account in Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) on July 1st, 2015. That same day, we moved to Hoshangabad (Madhya Pradesh). Later, I received a bank message saying my payment had been stopped on July 2nd, 2015. I had to rush around to get my physical cheque, which I finally managed to collect on September 11th, 2015 from the same Axis Bank branch in Meerut, thanks to a friend. My old friend borrowed 2 lakhs from me in cash and gave me a cheque for the same amount. He promised to pay me back in cash, but has been missing for years. My friend borrowed money from me to give to someone who promised him a job. It’s been over 4 months and he hasn’t got the job or repaid the money. He keeps making empty promises and hasn’t paid up. I was patient at first, but I got frustrated and sent him a message using some strong language asking for my money back. Now he’s threatening legal action because of my language. All our transactions are documented online. I have a cheque from him that I’m sure will bounce. What should I do now?
