My elderly mother-in-law (85 years old) has been living in a part of my Chennai property for years. I’ve always supported her financially, and have all the documents to prove it. My wife recently bought the house from her, and I subsequently bought it from my wife. Unfortunately, her other daughters have misled her, claiming I cheated her, and now she wants to file a case against me. Despite this, she’s still living in my house. While I understand her confusion, I’m concerned about the unfair accusations and the lack of gratitude she’s showing. Is there a legal way to ask her to leave, considering she’s clearly influenced by others and might be filing a case? I have all the necessary documents to prove the legitimacy of all transactions.

Given your mother-in-law’s age and confusion, it’s best to avoid legal action if possible. You can try to resolve the situation amicably by addressing her concerns and presenting the documentation proving the transactions. However, if the situation escalates and she files a case, you can present your evidence to defend yourself.
