I joined a gym in Gurgaon that has a one-month notice period for cancelling membership. In mid-February, due to health problems, I couldn’t go to the gym and decided to stop my membership. I emailed them on March 3rd to cancel, but the email bounced and they only received it on March 7th – a week late according to their policy. I rented a house in India under a Leave and License agreement. I moved out on September 30th, leaving some belongings behind with the owner’s agreement. We decided to clean the house before I collected my things. However, the owner is now withholding â‚¹6,000 from my â‚¹40,000 security deposit and demanding I paint the house and get pest control. My father-in-law built a house using his government retirement savings. However, a neighbor is causing trouble, claiming our house blocks his ventilation and the land is unapproved. I worked for a US-based IT services company listed on NASDAQ, at their India development center. In January 2016, they transferred me to the US on an L1A visa, keeping me on their payroll. I resigned in July 2016 due to personal reasons. Before leaving, I had accumulated some leave travel benefits in India. When I asked for this amount, they deducted $500, claiming it was owed to them for a trip I took. I have proof that I don’t owe this money, and they acknowledged it, but still refuse to refund the withheld amount. I want to take legal action to recover this money.
