My passport application is stuck because of a police verification issue. I was at work when the verification officer visited my home. My elderly parents were there and told them I might be at work or at my wife’s mother’s house (our child is 9 months old). The officer left a note asking me to visit the police station. I went there with all my documents two days later, but they said I don’t live at my own house and stay at my in-laws’ place. My family moved into our new flat in Bangalore in July 2014. There are 15 other flats in the building. The builder promised to handle maintenance until December 2014, after which an Owners’ Association would take over. However, the builder never introduced us to other residents and hasn’t taken any steps to form the association. When I asked him to organize a meeting, he said it’s not his responsibility. We reached an agreement with the mediator to settle our domestic violence case, both of us signed it. The wife will receive around 10 lakhs as alimony for a full settlement. My question is, should we or the wife get the police complaint filed by her cancelled? Also, how do we get the divorce papers finalized and the rest of the legal process completed?
