My husband filed for divorce in 2009, and I filed for conjugal rights. We have a 10-year-old daughter. Despite counseling, he’s only interested in divorce. I’m tired of this. He’s a scientist at DRDO, a central government employee earning around â‚¹1.5 lakhs per month. He owns a house and car. I currently receive â‚¹15,000 per month as interim maintenance. I’m an MBA graduate and run a daycare, preschool, and tuition centre.The court has ordered us to complete the case by April. However, February and March are exam months, making it difficult for me to attend court. The judge insists I appear, threatening an ex-parte judgment if I don’t. I’m not interested in reuniting with him.I was thinking of asking for â‚¹50 lakhs, but he’s only willing to offer â‚¹10 lakhs. What should I do? How much can I realistically ask for? My company cheque, dated January 8th, 2005, was extended to April 8th, 2005, at the payee’s request. I closed the company account on September 26th, 2006, and opened a new one. The bank incorrectly changed the cheque’s year to 2006 and cleared it from my new account on October 3rd, 2006, without my permission. My wife’s grandfather left property that was divided in 1994. Her mother and brother registered it in their names, leaving her out. Her brother passed away in 2011 and her mother in 2016. Her mother allowed her to build a house on the ground floor with the understanding her brother would build the second floor. My wife built the first floor in 1994 but her brother never built the second. Her mother wrote this in a registered will. They also had a family agreement on a stamp paper, witnessed but not registered, stating my wife could build the ground floor and her brother the second.
