I spent a decade working in Saudi Arabia and came to India for a month-long holiday. Due to a family emergency, I ended up staying for six months. Now, my friend called from Saudi, saying my former sponsor has filed a false claim against me, alleging I took his money when I left for India. This is completely untrue.I’m worried that India might be forced to send me back to Saudi Arabia. What are my legal options? Punishments in Saudi are strict, and I’m concerned about facing those. My husband worked in the UAE in 2006, and his employer took out a credit card in his name. He was assured that he’d pay it off on time. He came back to India for our wedding in 2007, on a month-long leave. While he was here, his employer called to say his job was lost due to the recession. A few months later, we started getting calls from the bank in the Gulf about the unpaid dues. We sorted it out with his former employer in Dubai, and the payment was made. My wife and I have been travelling to the UK for the past 5 years to visit our three children who live there. Our eldest daughter is a UK citizen, our son is settled, and our younger daughter has a work permit. We’ve been visiting regularly since 2011, and recently applied for a 10-year long-term visa. However, our application was refused. The visa officer said we’ve been staying longer than the time we mentioned in our application. For instance, we stated we’d stay for 30 days, but ended up returning to India after 5 months. Even though we’ve never exceeded the 180-day limit mentioned on the UK Home Office website, our application was rejected without any chance to appeal. What should we do now?
