My wife and I are from Jaipur, and we’ve been married for almost a year. I’ve been living separately for the past six months because she threatened to leave me. Whenever we disagree, she threatens to file a case against me. Once, she even tried to get our neighbors involved. Her sister works in the police, and she often threatens to falsely implicate me in a case. I moved out to avoid troubling my family, but she still isn’t behaving well. Now, I want a divorce. What should I do? If she names my family in a case, will the police also harass them, even though I’ve been living separately for six months? Her constant threats and arguments are affecting my work, and I can’t focus. She even threatens to put something in my food. Her brother also threatens me.

I got married in September 2008. Sadly, we lost two babies soon after their birth – a boy in April 2010 and a girl in June 2013. My wife left home in July 2013, saying she wouldn’t return and I should remarry. Her father promised to talk to her and get back to me, but there’s been no response. We’ve tried reaching out, but she’s refusing to come back. In June 2015, she filed a complaint with the women’s cell in Dehradun. I travelled from Jaipur to Dehradun five times to resolve the issue, but it didn’t work out. Now she’s filed a case in court. I’m worried she might try to hurt my parents with false accusations. What should I do?

My husband and I, both Hindus, have been living apart for almost a year now. We’ve tried to work things out but it just doesn’t seem possible. He’s become very controlling, expects me to support him financially, and even seems to have some personality issues. I know he won’t agree to a mutual divorce. My wife filed a case against me and my family under various sections including 498A, 379, 494, 323, 504, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, along with sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Act, on January 21st, 2015. While my family members received anticipatory bail from the sessions court, my application was rejected. I appealed to the High Court, which sent the matter to mediation and ordered no coercive action against me until the process is complete. However, my wife is not cooperating with the mediation process. The next hearing for my anticipatory bail is on August 17th, 2015. I’ve been married for 12 years and have a daughter who is 3 years old. My husband left me 3 years ago after years of abuse and violence. He continues to harass me with hateful emails.
