My neighbor, Mr. X, filed a police complaint against me back in 2013. The case became a court case in June 2016. I’m facing charges under sections 420, 379 of the Indian Penal Code and 66(C)(D) of the IT Act. When I checked online court records, I couldn’t find any mention of the case being a “State vs. me” case. The complainant is still listed as Mr. X. Is it possible for me to approach Mr. X and try to settle this matter amicably? Can I request him to withdraw the charges? Would the state intervene in this process, or would they allow the case to be settled if Mr. X agrees to a resolution involving damages?

I worked for a company in Singrauli from November 2016. The owner pressured me to deposit his unaccounted money into my bank account, which I did twice. But on December 28th, I refused. He then fired me. When I went to his office on January 9th to collect my remaining salary, he became violent and assaulted me. I’m facing a tough situation. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s Octroi department has filed a police complaint against me for underpaying Octroi. While I only signed the company’s ‘R’ Form, the actual values were declared by our agent at the check post without my input and accepted by the Octroi inspector.A chargesheet has been issued, but no formal charges have been made. If our company pays the outstanding Octroi and the Municipality issues a letter agreeing to “compound” the case and explicitly stating they won’t pursue further action, can the High Court quash the FIR?
