My four sisters, married to wealthy men, took possession of my parents’ property documents, cash, bank deposits, and jewelry while I was working in Gujarat. They rented out the house and planned to prevent me from returning after my retirement. I had contributed significantly to the house’s construction. Now, I am living alone in that same house, being a Hindu. How can I reclaim the money I invested and the documents and assets my sisters have taken away?

As a Hindu, you have equal rights to your parents’ property under the Hindu Succession Act, 1956. You can file a suit for partition of the property and recovery of your share of the assets and money invested. The court can order your sisters to return the documents, assets, and account for the rent income, and may also issue a restraining order preventing them from selling or transferring the property.
