My parents got married in 1992. Sadly, my dad became mentally unwell around 2003-2004 and has been receiving treatment for his condition. During this time, my uncle sold our family business without my father’s consent, and the remaining property is now under my dad’s name. He’s been physically abusing my mother and me, even threatening our lives. I’m desperately trying to find a way to secure financial support so we can leave him and build a safe and happy life for ourselves. How much financial assistance can I receive to help us escape this situation?

Indian law recognizes domestic violence as a serious offense and offers protection to victims. You can approach a court for a Protection Order against your father, which may include financial support. You may also be entitled to a share in the family property if your father is found to be mentally incapacitated and unable to manage his affairs.
