Planning to buy a ready-to-move flat in Sector 48, Noida? It’s a society with 5 to 6-floor buildings offering car parking and power backup. Besides the flat price, they’re charging for electric connection, power backup, and registration. They’re also mentioning a 4.5% service tax. Is it standard practice for builders to charge registration fees in such societies?

In India, builders are not typically allowed to charge for registration fees as it is the buyer’s responsibility to register the property. The charges for electric connection, power backup, and service tax should be clearly outlined in the agreement and may be considered legitimate, depending on their nature and how they are calculated.
