My wife has a brother and a sister. Her mother received ancestral property as the only daughter. My wife chose not to claim any part of this property and let her brother inherit it. We now have a daughter. Will she have any claim to this property?

Under Indian law, your daughter could have a claim to the ancestral property. Even though your wife chose not to claim her share, your daughter, as a direct descendant, could inherit a portion of the property based on the laws of intestacy or through a legal challenge.
