Simply sending an affidavit to his siblings is not sufficient to relinquish his share. A formal deed of relinquishment, registered with the relevant authorities, is required to legally transfer his share in ancestral property and inheritance. It is advisable to consult a lawyer to ensure the process is compliant with Indian laws.
