My grandfather, who passed away in 1972 without a will, had two sons and a daughter. My mother, born in 1945 and unfortunately passed away in 1987, was his daughter. Since the Hindu Succession Act of 1956 came into effect after my mother’s birth, how can I inherit my grandfather’s property?

Under the Hindu Succession Act of 1956, your mother inherited a share of your grandfather’s property as his daughter. Since she predeceased you, you are entitled to inherit her share of the property as her legal heir. You will need to obtain a succession certificate from the court to prove your inheritance rights.
