My father, who had two wives, passed away when I was young. My mother, his second wife, had me and my two sisters. My stepmother, from his first marriage, has a son. Before he died, my father transferred a property, which was originally in my grandmother’s name, to my stepmother. Now, a tenant living there claims to have bought the property from her. We never knew about this sale and suspect it was done for a very low price. What legal options do I have to protect my family’s rightful claim to this property?

As the legal heir of your father, you and your siblings have a right to inherit his property. You can challenge the transfer to your stepmother and the subsequent sale to the tenant if it’s proven fraudulent or unfair. You can file a lawsuit seeking partition and possession of the property, claiming your father’s share.
