My aunt, who held the Power of Attorney for my father’s land, gifted it to me in 2005. We later sold the property, but the buyer never got the sale deed registered. Sadly, my aunt passed away in 2006. Now, in 2013, her son is claiming the sale is invalid and wants the land back. What can I do to protect my rights?

As per Indian law, the unregistered sale deed is not a valid transfer of ownership. Since your aunt passed away, her son may claim ownership of the land as her legal heir. You should consult a lawyer immediately to explore options like seeking registration of the sale deed or filing a legal suit to establish your ownership.
