I bought 2 acres of farmland in Faridabad back in 2002. The revenue department gave me possession after the land consolidation process, and I even built a fence around it. Now I’ve found out that the land records show my plot was acquired by HUDA in 1985 for road construction. My land is on the edge of the road, and I’ve been living there ever since. Can HUDA still take over my property?

Under Indian law, if HUDA acquired your land in 1985 for road construction, they have legal ownership. Your possession and fencing do not negate their ownership. HUDA likely has a valid claim and could initiate legal action to take possession. However, you can challenge this acquisition by proving that the land was not legally acquired or that you were not adequately compensated.
