I’ve signed a one-year contract with my new job. But, the work environment isn’t what I expected. If I leave before the year is up, I have to pay back 3 months of salary. I really don’t want to pay that! What are my options for leaving without the penalty?

Indian law doesn’t automatically enforce “payback” clauses in contracts. You can try negotiating a mutually agreeable termination with your employer. If they refuse, you can consider resigning and potentially citing reasons like a hostile work environment, but be prepared to defend your claims if challenged. Consulting a lawyer specializing in employment law is advisable.
