We’ve been married for 7 years now, and my husband bought this house before we got hitched. His brother and family have been living here for 11 years. Now, when I try to talk about this, my in-laws say it was bought before I came into the picture, so I have no say. But we pay the EMI, and we don’t get any rent. Is it fair that I have no voice in this matter just because the house was bought before our marriage?

Indian law recognizes the concept of “shared household” in a marriage, even if the property was acquired before the marriage. While the house was purchased before your marriage, you contribute to the EMIs, making it a shared household. You have a right to be consulted on decisions regarding the property, including your in-laws’ continued occupancy.
