Under Indian law, you cannot legally prevent your husband from leaving you, even if you supported his education. However, you can seek legal recourse for the emotional abuse you’re enduring. You can file for divorce under the Special Marriage Act, citing cruelty as grounds, and seek alimony and maintenance. Additionally, you should seek support from family, friends, or a therapist to address your feelings of hopelessness.
