My husband and I are going through a separation, and I’ve filed for maintenance. When can I expect the court to call us for counseling? I want to make sure I tell everything that happened after our marriage during the counseling session. What happens if one of us can’t make it on the scheduled date? How do we find out about that?

Indian law doesn’t mandate counseling during a separation or maintenance proceedings. The court may call you both for a joint hearing to discuss the issues, but this is not a counseling session. If one of you can’t make it, the court will reschedule the hearing. You’ll be notified by the court about any changes to the schedule.
