My daughter got married in December 2014. Her husband is asexual, and his family was aware of this. They tried various treatments for him, but he couldn’t have physical intimacy until July 2015. They wanted a child through IVF, but my daughter refused. Finally, they accepted that he couldn’t have children naturally, but they wanted a child through IVF. People advised against involving the police, as it’s a lengthy process. We agreed to go for a mutual compromise and settled for a Mutual Consent Divorce (MCD). The first hearing was in January 2016, and they agreed to pay 25 lakhs. They gave us 15 lakhs during the first hearing. If they delay the second hearing, what options do I have? Can I still file a police complaint?

In India, filing a police complaint after a mutual consent divorce agreement is unlikely to be successful. As the divorce was agreed upon, and the first hearing has already occurred, focusing on enforcing the financial terms of the agreement through legal channels like pursuing the remaining 10 lakhs through the court is the recommended course of action.
