My wife filed a false dowry harassment case (498A) against me and my family on October 26th, 2016, in her hometown where her uncle is a police officer. We received a notice on December 2nd, 2016, asking us to come to the station within a few days. We’re scared to go because of her uncle’s influence.
Our marriage has been difficult since the beginning (2012). Our families intervened and tried to counsel us multiple times. She attempted suicide in June 2016, and we even started divorce proceedings with a property settlement. She returned in August 2016 and demanded I live with her, which I refused.
Then, she filed a false case, claiming I took money and jewelry, and that we tried to harm her. All these accusations are completely untrue. What should I do?

You should immediately consult a lawyer specializing in matrimonial and criminal law. They can advise on legal options, including filing a counter-complaint for false accusations and securing anticipatory bail to protect you from arrest. It’s crucial to document all evidence, including previous attempts at reconciliation and the divorce proceedings, to support your case.
