The validity of the appointments depends on your society’s specific rules and regulations. Generally, residing in the society for a minimum period is a common requirement for committee membership. Regarding a husband and wife serving on the committee, there is no legal bar, but the society’s rules may have restrictions on family members holding positions. To address any invalid appointments, you can approach the society’s management or file a complaint with the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, 1960.

How long will it take approximately for a case to be resolved in the District Court?

I’ve been living in a house on GT Road in Shibpur, Howrah for over 40 years. The property was previously under a lease arrangement. Recently, someone claiming to be the owner showed me purchase documents, tax bills, and receipts. They want to build a multi-story building.
