My sister has been married for 14 years and unfortunately, she doesn’t have children. Sadly, her husband passed away recently. He ran a business with his father, and most of their assets are registered in his parents’ names, with some under his younger brother’s. They are now refusing to give my sister any share of the property and are even pressuring her to leave. Does she have any legal claim to their property? If she files a domestic violence complaint, how long will it take to get a resolution?

Your sister may have a claim to her husband’s share of the property, even if it’s not registered in her name. She can file a claim under the Hindu Succession Act or the Indian Succession Act, depending on the applicable law.
