My parents recently passed away, and I want to transfer the property to my name. However, someone claims my mother sold the property to him and has an affidavit to prove it. I have the original land papers in my parents’ names. Is this affidavit valid? How can I legally transfer the property to myself?

An affidavit alone is not sufficient proof of property transfer. You need to examine the validity of the alleged sale, including registration of the property in the buyer’s name and payment of stamp duty. You should consult a lawyer to establish the legitimacy of your claim and guide you through the legal process for transferring the property to your name.
