My mother owns her house, built with some contributions from my late father. My aunt, my mother’s sister, has been living with us for over 10 years, even though she has her own home. She doesn’t contribute financially and relies on my mother for everything. Can she claim any ownership rights over the house?

Under Indian law, your aunt cannot claim ownership rights over the house simply by residing there for 10 years. She has no legal basis for claiming ownership as there was no transfer of ownership and she doesn’t contribute financially.
