My husband’s stepfather, who married his mother after his father’s passing 15 years ago, has been demanding that we leave his home. He used to physically abuse my husband and his mother, though this has stopped recently. My mother-in-law’s second husband adopted my husband, but now he’s turning against us. I want to take legal action to ensure my husband and his mother receive the rightful share of the property and have a safe place to live. What can I do?

Your husband and his mother can file a case for partition of the property and seek a share in accordance with their legal rights. You can also file a domestic violence case against the stepfather, citing past abuse and the threat of eviction, to ensure their safety and secure an order for protection.
