My husband and I are buying a flat in Bangalore. We signed the agreement with the builder, but now I want to add my father’s name to the ownership. He’s contributing Rs. 20 lakhs towards the purchase, but the builder is refusing to include his name. Is there any way I can ensure his contribution is acknowledged in the ownership, even if it’s not directly added to the title?

While directly adding your father’s name might be difficult now, you can explore options like creating a separate agreement acknowledging his financial contribution. This agreement, registered with the sub-registrar, can protect his interest and ensure he receives his share of the property in case of any future disputes.
