My grandmother owned land in 1980. After she passed, our neighbours tricked my father, who is not well-versed in legal matters, into signing some papers claiming a survey number change. They then used these papers to get the land registered in their name. They sold the land in 2014 to someone else. We recently found our grandmother’s original land documents while moving. Can we take any action against the neighbours? Should we file a complaint?
Best Answer
Yes, you can take legal action. Your father was potentially misled into signing fraudulent documents, and the land registration appears to be based on forged evidence. You can file a police complaint for cheating and forgery, and a civil suit to reclaim the land based on your grandmother’s original documents.
