My grandmother gifted me her property in 2008 through a registered deed. I have an elder sister, and she was my grandmother’s only child. I am her only son. Unfortunately, my sister passed away a few months ago. Now, my mother and father are pressuring me to share the property with my sister’s family. They’re threatening legal action if I don’t give them a share. Can I legally challenge the deed or is there a way to protect my share of the property with my mother’s help?

Based on Indian law, the registered deed from your grandmother in 2008 legally transfers the property to you. Your sister’s family has no legal claim to the property, and your mother and father cannot force you to share it. You can legally challenge any attempt to claim a share of the property. Your mother’s support would strengthen your case.
