My grandfather owned houses in Ludhiana and Jalandhar. He had three children, one of whom is my father. We currently live in Amritsar. My uncles have been living in my grandfather’s houses, but the property hasn’t been divided equally. Four years ago, I filed a case in the lower court at Jalandhar, but it hasn’t progressed. How can I ensure my rightful share of the property within a reasonable timeframe?

You can file an appeal in a higher court challenging the delay in the Jalandhar court. You could also consider approaching the High Court through a writ petition, citing the undue delay in the lower court proceedings and requesting expedited disposal. Alternatively, you can pursue mediation or arbitration with your uncles to reach a mutually acceptable settlement.
