My grandfather (mother’s father) had two sons and two daughters. Sadly, he passed away two years ago. Now, his two sons are dividing the property worth 35 lakh between themselves, offering only one lakh each to their two sisters. Is this fair? What share do the two daughters deserve from their father’s property?

Under the Hindu Succession Act, daughters are entitled to an equal share in their father’s property as sons. Therefore, your aunts are entitled to a share of the 35 lakh property equal to what their brothers are receiving, which should be 8.75 lakh each. The brothers are not legally allowed to offer a lesser amount.
