My grandfather had two sons and a daughter. His older son is still alive, but his younger son passed away some time ago. My aunt, his daughter, is married. My grandfather sadly passed away in 2003. We’re planning to sell the land he owned, but my uncle’s daughters (all married now) are demanding a larger share of the inheritance. We’ve explained that legally, they’re entitled to half of their father’s portion. They’re refusing to sign the sale documents unless they get more. Who needs to sign the registration papers to complete the sale: just my uncle and his brother’s wife, or everyone including the grandchildren?

Under Indian law, the legal heirs of your grandfather are his surviving son, your uncle, and his daughter, your aunt. Your uncle’s daughters are not legal heirs to your grandfather’s property, as they are only heirs to their father (your grandfather’s deceased son). Only your uncle and aunt need to sign the sale documents to complete the sale.
